Key Responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer at Amazon, you will:

• Collaborate with experienced engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to conceive, design, and launch innovative products and services.
• Design and develop scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems that power Amazon’s global ecosystem.
• Build distributed storage, indexing, and query systems that are efficient, cost-effective, and easy to maintain.
• Create solutions that enable predictions on distributed systems at massive scale and high speed.
• Design and code robust solutions starting from ambiguous, high-level problems.
• Work in an agile, fast-paced environment to deliver high-quality, customer-focused software.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including:
  • Object-oriented design
  • Algorithms and data structures
  • Problem-solving and complexity analysis
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous technical internship(s) or practical industry experience.
• Hands-on experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
• Familiarity with optimization mathematics (linear and nonlinear programming).
• Ability to communicate technical challenges and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Comfort with ambiguous problem spaces and ability to think abstractly.
